ANNOUNCEMENTS
Post-Service Sunday School
A time of study and open discussion will follow today’s morning service. Adults are encouraged to stay in the sanctuary, while children can be taken downstairs where we will offer lessons for various ages.
Fundraiser Thank You!
An enormous thank you to the 13 volunteers this past Friday that provided childcare and prepared the 36 dozen ham & cheese sandwiches for the fundraiser to benefit a friend of the church as they endure the process of a full digestive tract transplant. This fundraiser was organized by the Women's Guild.
Nominations for Elders and Deacons
Make a nomination for an elder or deacon by telling either the pastor or any member of the current Consistory. Nominees must meet the qualifications described in the recently ratified constitution (you can read the constitution here), in accordance with 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. We hope to install the new elders and deacons on the first Sunday of December.
If you would like a printed copy of the constitution, send an email to the church secretary.
Join the Homewood Auxiliary
The theme of the 2025 membership drive for the Homewood Auxiliary is Matthew 5:16 - "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." The Auxiliary’s mission is to enhance the lives of the residents at Homewood in Martinsburg. Dues are $3.00 per member. For more information, send an email to the church secretary.
Suggest a Bucket Brigade Recipient
Spare change is collected on the second Sunday of each month. This donation is then given to a needy member of our community. If you have a suggestion of someone in need, let the pastor or the church secretary know.

WORSHIP SONG
I Want To Know You
I've tried in vain a thousand ways
My fears to quell, my hopes to raise
But what I need, Your word has said
Is ever, only, Jesus
You died, You live, You reign, You plead
There's love in all your words and deeds
This weary heart finds all it needs
In ever, only, Jesus
Cause I want to know You, Jesus my LORD
King of the Heavens, King of my soul
I trade my treasures and all my rewards
Jesus to know You, then know You more
Though some should curse me for Your name
I have no fear, I have no shame
You stand with me for all my days
My ever, only, Jesus
I want to know You, Jesus my LORD
King of the Heavens, King of my soul
I trade my treasures and all my rewards
Jesus to know You, then know You more
Like wave after wave on the ocean
Like all of the sand on the shore
Your beauty and glory are endless
O Jesus I must know you more
Like wave after wave on the ocean
Like all of the sand on the shore
Your beauty and glory are endless
O Jesus I must know you more
I want to know You, Jesus my LORD
King of the Heavens, King of my soul
I trade my treasures and all my rewards
Jesus to know You, then know You more
I want to know You, Jesus my LORD
King of the Heavens, King of my soul
I trade my treasures and all my rewards
Jesus to know You, then know You more
Jesus to know You, then know You more
RESPONSIVE READING
Hebrews 5:7 - 9 (ESV)
(Minister only)
In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.
(All)
Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.
(Minister only)
And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him
WORSHIP SONG
# 33 - Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
O GOD my Father
There is no shadow
Of turning with Thee
Thou changest not
Thy compassions they fail not
As Thou hast been
Thou forever wilt be
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness LORD unto me!
Summer and winter
And springtime and harvest
Sun, moon, and stars
In their courses above
Join with all nature
In manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness
Mercy and love
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness LORD unto me!
Pardon for sin
And a peace that endureth
Thy own dear presence
To cheer and to guide
Strength for today
And bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine
With ten thousand beside!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness LORD unto me!
SCRIPTURE READING
Job 38:1 - 18 (ESV)
The LORD Answers Job
1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
2 "Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.
4 "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements — surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone,
7 when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8 "Or who shut in the sea with doors when it burst out from the womb,
9 when I made clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling band,
10 and prescribed limits for it and set bars and doors,
11 and said, 'Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stayed'?
12 "Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place,
13 that it might take hold of the skirts of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it?
14 It is changed like clay under the seal, and its features stand out like a garment.
15 From the wicked their light is withheld, and their uplifted arm is broken.
16 "Have you entered into the springs of the sea, or walked in the recesses of the deep?
17 Have the gates of death been revealed to you, or have you seen the gates of deep darkness?
18 Have you comprehended the expanse of the earth? Declare, if you know all this.

WORSHIP SONG LYRICS
#487 - Something for Thee
Savior, Thy dying love
Thou gavest me
Nor should I aught withold
Dear LORD, from Thee
In love my soul would bow
My heart fulfill its vow
Some off'ring bring Thee now
Something for Thee
Give me a faithful heart
Guided by Thee
That each departing day
Henceforth may see
Some work of love begun
Some deed of kindness done
Some wand'rer sought and won
Something for Thee
All that I am and have
Thy gifts so free
Ever in joy or grief
My LORD, for Thee
And when Thy face I see
My ransomed soul shall be
Through all eternity
Something for Thee

SERMON MAIN VERSES
2 Timothy 2:8 - 19 (ESV)
8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel,
9 for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound!
10 Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11 The saying is trustworthy, for:
If we have died with him, we will also live with him;
12 if we endure, we will also reign with him;
if we deny him, he also will deny us;
13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful—
for he cannot deny himself.
A Worker Approved by God
14 Remind them of these things, and charge them before God[a] not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers.
15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved,[b] a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
16 But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness,
17 and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
18 who have swerved from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already happened. They are upsetting the faith of some.
19 But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The LORD knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the LORD depart from iniquity.”

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father
who art in heaven
hallowed be Thy name
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom
and the power
and the glory, forever and ever
Amen
CLOSING WORSHIP SONG
#392 - How Firm a Foundation
How firm a foundation
Ye saints of the LORD
Is laid for your faith
In His excellent Word!
What more can He say
Than to you He hath said
To you who for refuge
To Jesus have fled?
Fear not, I am with thee
O be not dismayed
For I am thy GOD
And will still give thee aid
I'll strengthen thee, help thee
And cause thee to stand
Up held by my righteous
Omnipotent hand
When through the deep waters
I call thee to go
The rivers of sorrow
Shall not overflow
For I will be with thee
Thy troubles to bless
And sanctify to thee
Thy deepest distress
When through fiery trials
Thy pathway shall lie
My grace, allsuffient
Shall be thy supply
The flame shall not hurt thee
I only design
Thy dross to consume
And thy gold to refine
The soul that on Jesus
Hath leaned for repose
I will not, I will not
Desert to its foes
That soul, though all hell
Should endeavor to shake
I'll never, no, never,
No, never forsake!
